Only 70 theatres for Pongal release:KAAVALAN

Actor Vijay, whose upcoming flick ‘Kaavalan’ scheduled to release on Pongal eve, is said to be facing quite a lot of problems in locating theatres of his choice to release his pet project. Deviating from his masala films over the years, Vijay himself has admitted that he has taken up ‘flowers’ (read ‘romance’) instead of ‘guns’ (read ‘action’) for this film and assures that it would be liked by all sections of audience.

The theatre-owners’ association, which earlier had demanded that Vijay pay them Rs.10 crores for the successive failure of his films for the past 3-4 years, had declared in the middle of this year that if Vijay does not make up for the losses incurred earlier ,his Kaavalan will not be showcased in ‘plum’ theaters.

The same appears to be happening and Vijay’s worst fears seems to be turning true. Though Shakti Chidambaram, who bought the distribution of the film for a whopping sum of 42 Crores, claimed that the film would be released in over 400 cinema theatres , insiders say that as on date, he has only managed to sign up 70 cinema theatres to release the film. Even these halls are said to be secondary in nature when it comes to seating facilities.

Vijay had always maintained that he couldn’t be singled out for the ‘non-show’ of his films and that he, or for that matter, any one particular actor, shouldn’t be asked to pay up for the losses said to be incurred by the theatre-owners and distributors.

‘Kaavalan’ was supposed to hit the screens on December 17th itself but had to be postponed to January 14th as the requisite theatres weren’t available for the producer to release the film. The tangle is likely to continue as Pongal would witness major releases such as Dhanush’s ‘Aadukalam’ and Karthi’s ‘Siruthai’ which would eat up most of the important and major cinema halls in the city and elsewhere.

Tony Jaa in Suriya’s 7 Am Arivu Movie

The world renowned young, cool and hot hunk Tony Jaa has wide range of fans following across the globe, has been roped for A.R Murugadoss’ 7am Arivu upcoming film . The film features Surya Sivakumar and Shruthi Haasan in lead roles as known previously.

The highlighting attribute of this film is that there are only 3 characters in this film and there are no other supporting roles. The complete story will center on these three actors. Since this film will be made simultaneously Hindi and Telugu as well. So it will be an additional feature to attract even the Bollywood fans, who are already excited about Surya’s debut release Raktha Charithra in August.

Mangatha update

Lakshmi Rai has been roped in for Ajith’s 50th film ‘Mangatha’ claimed by the actress. Lakshmi Rai, who has no offers in Tamil film industry, has reportedly told that she will be a part of ‘Mangatha’. While Neeetu Chandra has bagged the role of Heroine and Telugu superstar Nagarjuna is playing the prominent rule, it is uncertain whether Lakshmi Rai would pair opposite Nagarjuna or just to do cameo role.

The actress is currently acting in a Malayalam film Chiristian brothers starring Mohan Lal in the lead role and doing a heroine role in a Telugu film Kanchana being directed by Raghava Lawrence.

Nothing political against Kalaignar, but just to bring out of the state of Tamil fisherman families who are poor and don't have strong political background,and who are being ignored inspite of the Srilankan Navy attack on the Indian Tamil fisherman?

It has a regular happening when a Tamil fisherman is killed is, typically the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister writes to the Indian Prime Minister pleading with him to get Sri Lanka stop the killing of Tamil Nadu fishermen. The Chief Minister would get an assurance from the Prime Minister that no such shootings would take place again. That assurance is not worth the paper it was written on. Shootings continue, killings continue, with no protest from Indian Government.

Vijay's Kavalkaran in trouble

Johny Thomas, a resident of West Mambalam has filed a case against Siddhique the director of the movie ‘Kavalkaran‘. Johny claimed that he had produced the Malayalam version of ‘Kavalkaran’ in the name ‘Body guard’ and told the reporters that he has the actual remake rights of the film.

Johny Thomas said “Without my knowledge, director Siddhique is remaking the film in Tamil with Vijay playing the lead role. Since he has no legal rights to do so, the Court should order the police to register a case on him”.

With regards to the issue Saidapet Magistrate has ordered the crime branch police to look into the issue and submit a report.

Mangaatha

Gowtham Menon may not direct Ajith Kumar’s 50th film for some of the reasons like the delay even after providing the dates and difference of opinion in the story line. Venkat Prabhu is likely to bag the offer.

Dayanidhi has planned to use director Venkat Prabhu to utilize the dates obtained foe Ajith. After completing his movie 'Chennai-600028', Venkat Prabhu had been hunting foe dates for Ajith with a story in hand. Now he is all set to make full use of the chance so long he is waiting for.

Venkat Prabhu has named his proposed movie as 'Mangaatha'. There is yet another speciality of the movie. That is Nagarjuna will be acting alongside Ajith in an important role in the movie.

Samantha replacing Sameera in Ajith's 50th film

Right from the start of Ajiths 50 Movie was announed there have winds blowing from all direction with one news or the other, and the guessing game is still on. First there was news of the film being dropped and then there was something allegedly said by the director Gautham Menon. With all kinds of news floating around and Gautham will start it once Ajith completes his racing commitments. Some sources also say the Gautham-Ajith film will start rolling in October this year.Last heard on the script front, the movie is already speculated to be a cop movie and with this added piece of information, looks like it will be an action movie as well.

Earlier it was said Sameera Reddy will play the female lead but now we hear that Samantha, who played Trisha's role in the Telugu version of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa will be signed up.Samantha’s major films so far include ‘Ye Maaya Chesaave’ and ‘Brindavanam’ in Telugu and ‘Moscowin Kaveri’ and soon to be released ‘Baana Kaathadi’ in Tamil.

Endhiran Audio Launch on 18th of July :)

The audio launch of Endhiran will take place on July 18th. This is a strong indication that the film is gearing up for a release sooner than expected. Endhiran is a very high budget movie priced at Rs 165 Crore, which is being produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Shankar. The film has Rajinikanth pairing up with the former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the first time, which has created a lot of expectations among the fans. AR Rahman’s music is another highlight.

According to Shankar a fast beat song similar to ‘uppu karuvadu’ is composed by A.R.Rahman and the song is choreographed by Dinesh with superstar dancing gracefully to the tune

Being a big budget film, there is a strong indication that Endhiran’s audio launch will be a grand affair with the probable spot being told is Dubai. Let’s wait for more info on this.

Kaaval

Following the release of Aasal in February 2010, Ajith Kumar was signed on by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud nine Movies for a project touted to be directed by Gautham Menon. Many reported that the title would be Thuppariyum Anand or Nizhal vettai but later it was reported that it was not the title for this film.

The movie launch is most likely to happen in madurai in grand manner.

A. R. Rahman and Manoj Paramahamsa will be the film's composer and cinematographer respectively for a second time, after working with Gautham Menon in his last film, Vinnaithandi Varuvaya. Anthony Gonsalves will be the film's editor.
